Above you see a great group of people who wanted to help make a difference in someone's life. These folks of all ages--young and young at heart--went out to walk the 2009 CROP Walk. The trophy you see in the front center of the picture is called the Golden Sneaker Award, which is awarded to the church in the community that raises the most money for the CROP Walk that year. The Annville Church of the Brethren acheived this recognition in 2006, 2007, and 2008.
Will they be recognized in 2009 ??? Who knows! Anyone who has walked the CROP Walk will tell you that the trophy is not the real reward. They will share with you that the reward is the fellowship with other churches in the community, all striving together for a common goal. Congratulations to all the walkers and a Big thank you for all those who supported the CROP Walkers by making a donation. Someone had once asked Alexander Mack (founder of the Church of the Brethren), "How will people be able to recognize the brethren?" Alexander Mack replied, "They will be known by the manner of their living" -- helping others in need and doing the work of Christ. Well done to all who helped with this year's CROP Walk! |
